You Know We've Got To See It!
Yes, it's true... Bad Boys 4 is really coming out June 7, 2024. It's real. It's happening. #badboys, #BadBoys4, #BadBoysRideOrDie . Get Ready! And we all know that there's going to be mixed reviews about it. There will be those who boycott the movie because they have lost respect for Will Smith and there will be those who just pinch their nose, try to forget the Will Smith - Chris Rock incident that occurred during the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022. The assault of Chris rock was dubbed the slap heard around the world and it shook Holly Wood at its foundation. Will Smith subsequently resigned from the Academy and received a 10-year ban from the Academy Awards for slapping Chris Rock. Strangely enough, everyone was in a trance waiting for Chris Rock to sue Will Smith. It would certainly be an open and shut case.... Right? But it never happened.
What did happen was probably the hardest Comedic Comback of All Time in a Way that Only Chris Rock could do it. On March 4, 2023, just about a year after the infamous incident, Chris Rock's stand up performance entitled 'Selective Outrage' that was streamed on Netflix effectively knocked Will Smith out of contention for any serious role. Chris Rock's jokes were so scathing that people are still laughing and he took home $40 million dollars while he was at it. None the less, Will Smith has been quite resilient despite the incident. He continues to deliver within the industry despite the slap heard around the world.
Now let's be real for a minute. We all know that there's something magical about the Bad Boy's Movie Series. And before the Smith - Rock incident, for the most part, everyone loved Will Smith. He is a talented, award-winning, actor who delivers big at the box office. When you put Will Smith and Martin Lawrence together, it's always explosive. It creates the kind of movie magic that keeps movie goers coming back over and over. There's a synergy between them that is real and hard to duplicate. You know it. I know it. And we know we're going to go see it. The only real question is, will Chris Rock make a cameo appearance?
