Freedom Of Speech, Rest In Peace

It's unfortunate. America appears to have lost its First Amendment. It's as if over time it has eroded completely away leaving behind a husk like a dead corn stalk... empty. Acording to the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Assembly, and Freedom of Petion are protected meaning all Americans have these rights and can execute them without fear of retribution, punishment, or censorship. But now, that appears to have flipped completely. It appears you can say what you want but there will be retribution. There will be punishment. And there will be consequences.
Strangely enough, like all things, we have to look a little closer when we read the Constitution. You see, the First Amendment is focused on stoping the Government from persecuting individuals who exercise their freedoms. It does not prohibit private entities from exacting retribution, punishment, or censorship. And this is where the problem becomes complicated. It is wonderful to be protected from the Government. However, the people who can hurt you the most are those who run Big Business. We're talking about Corporate entities and organizations that can erase your opportunities, block you from being able to win contracts, stop you from finding employment, or just destroy your career. Too often, professionals in the Entertainment and mainstream media industries are finding themselves between a rock and a hard place simply because they gave their opinion. And when someone doesn't like what they've said... they become the next career casualty headline. And it doesn't matter how popular they are or how big their following is. Once you piss someone off, you could be finding yourself near an exit sign and reading the headline on your phone about how you've been cancelled.
This phenomenon is especially true with regards to controversial topics. There have been many career casualties that have taken place recently that all spur from the deterioration of America's capacity to support the Freedom of Speech. In fact, if you want to stay employed, you probably either need to never say anything controversial or you need to have good lawyers. Take a look at the short list below to see a few examples of individuals who's careers have literally blown up just because of what came out of their mouths. And the sad part is that in most cases, they didn't say very much but it was enough to draw negative attention.
So, it should be no surprise that the death of Charlie Kirk has caused a horrific opportunity for people from all walks of life to weigh in on what they believe and of course be cheered, judged, or persecuted in some instances by the powers that be. It's as if one group of people feels that if they don't state that they are upset about his death, they will be disassociated those that do. The only way to stay safe appears to be to say nothing at all.
